I really wish Conor Oberst would just A) Release more tunes from the new album or B) Move the release date of Outer South to an earlier date! If you check out their website you can download an MP3 of the new song “Nikorette or since you have found my little spot on the internet, I have provided one for you. Just sharing the wealth. I am really excited to hear Conor take his music in another direction from the brilliant Bright Eyes route. He definitely started to make strides with his self-titled album from last year. His newest work with The Mystic Valley Band is pure Oberst-esque brilliance wrapped up in a new musical genre for the Bright Eyes lyricist. I’m hoping to catch a show sometime on the current tour, and if you can make any of the dates I promise you will not regret it! Enjoy!

The Killers – “Four Winds”

So I’m not too sure what to make of this cover. The original version, by none other than Mr. Conor Oberst himself, was beautiful and picturesque, but I can’t say that Brandon Flowers and the gang did a bad job of covering it either. In typical Killers fashion, the synth-based cover does Four Winds good, and leaves you with the same passing feeling. Enjoy!

An Evening With: Jim James, M. Ward, & Conor Oberst

So after spending a good deal of my freetime from partying and such this past weekend surfing the web, I came across this new post from the great music blog, Aquarium Drunkard. I can’t believe a show like this happend almost 5 years ago, and still sounds so great! What an amazing trio of musicians for one evening, to say the least. Conor Oberst is always a favorite in my book so you know any concert with him is going to turn out phenominal. To top that off, you add the great musician M.Ward as well as my favorite musical frontman, Jim James (of My Morning Jacket), and BOOM! Dynamite music! Here is a great version of one of my favorite Bright Eyes songs, “At the Bottom of Everything,” topped off with Jim James and M.Ward and guests.  The rest of the show can be downloaded from the Aquarium Drunkard site. Big up’s to them! Enjoy!
